National Agricultural Development Co. (NADEC) signed three agreements with Pure Harvest Smart Farms Co. to build and operate high-tech hydroponic climate-controlled greenhouses, the company said in a statement to Tadawul.

A renewable, 20-year lease agreement was signed in the Haradh-based NADEC project, effective from the signing date. The agreement is related to the construction, development, and operation by the tenant of high-tech smart agricultural greenhouses in NADEC city on an area of no less than 40 hectares, in order to accommodate future expansions, including NADEC’s provision of groundwater supplies to the tenant for the project purpose.

Under the second utility service agreement (for energy, electricity and ancillaries), NADEC will provide and sell utility services and energy outputs from the date of operation until the end of the lease agreement.

Moreover, a third framework agreement regarding cooperation in the provision of common services was signed. Both parties agreed to cooperate and form a partnership regarding the services provided by NADEC for housing, transportation, emergency services and catering to facilitate the work of the project from the date of operation until the end of the agreement.

NADEC and Pure Harvest will continue negotiations on potential opportunities for further strategic cooperation going forward.

The relevant financial impact and any developments in this regard will be announced in due course, the statement concluded.

In November 2020, NADEC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pure Harvest Smart Farms to build and operate approximately six-hectare high-tech hydroponic climate-controlled greenhouses as a first phase within NADEC City in Haradh, Argaam reported.

Last July, NADEC extended the MoU for additional three months with Pure Harvest.
