Theeb Rent a Car Co. purchased 8,000 vehicles in 2021, boosting its retail and corporate fleet to 22,000 vehicles, a rise of 15% compared to 2020, CEO Naif Al-Theeb told Argaam in a phone call.

The used car sales market witnessed remarkable growth due to the shortage of global car manufacturing and the supply chain crisis, he said.

“The company focuses mainly on the individual and corporate rental segment.”

The Tadawul-listed firm owns two main branches for selling used cars after the end of their useful life in Riyadh and Jeddah, the top executive said, adding that a new branch was opened in Riyadh, Al-Qadisiyah district, as an alternative to Al-Saadah district branch.

Commenting on financial results, Al-Theeb said the car rental company worked on several internal initiatives that pushed revenue and net profit higher. Accordingly, its earnings came in higher than the pre-pandemic levels. Moreover, the Kingdom’s efforts to maintain economic development and bolster the tourism sector in major cities and neighborhoods strengthened the car rentals business.

Theeb Rent a Car aims to develop its services, in response to better demand for short-term rental services through geographical expansions in districts with growing demand, and digital transformation to improve customer experience.

The company eyes higher market share in the long-term rentals market, as well as improvement of the infrastructure of maintenance and after-sale centers for retail and corporate customers.

The company posted a net profit after Zakat and tax of SAR 125.7 million for 2021, up 99% compared with SAR 63.3 million a year earlier. The fourth-quarter earnings stood at SAR 47.4 million, Argaam reported.
