ACWA Power, SWPC sign water purchase agreement for Shuaibah 3 IWP

ACWA Power Co. signed today, June 20, a water purchase agreement (WPA) for Shuaibah 3 Independent Water Project (IWP), a 600,000 m3/d plant located in Shuaibah, Makkah Province, according to a bourse statement.

 

The WPA was signed between Shuaibah Three Water Desalination Co., which is co-owned by ACWA Power and Water & Electricity Holding Company (Badeel), and Saudi Water Partnership Co. (SWPC).

 

The project is worth around SAR 3 billion.

 

The contract is valid for 25 years, the utility explained, expecting the related financial impact to start once the commercial operation commences in Q2 2025.

 

The project is part of the conversion of the existing Shuaibah 3 IWPP plant into seawater reverse osmosis plant (SWRO), ACWA Power concluded.
