Agriculture companies own 35% of undeveloped lands in Saudi Arabia: Report

In Saudi Arabia, unused lands account for 35 percent of plots given by the state to local agricultural companies, according to a report published in Alsharq Alawsat newspaper.

The state needs about three months to determine the accurate percentages of undeveloped plots owned by the National Agricultural Development Company (NADEC), Qassim Agriculture Co., and Tabuk Agriculture Development Company (TADCO).

Each company owns a different percentage, the report pointed out.

According to data compiled by Argaam, the ministry of agriculture warned last Wednesday that it may confiscate undeveloped lands, if the companies do not apply measures recently approved by the Saudi government to better regulate land ownership.
