Saudi Arabia is now Nissan’s top market in the GCC region, as sales in the kingdom surpassed 180,000 units over the last year, the Japanese car maker said in a statement.
The last time the Saudi market became the front runner was nearly thirty years ago. The United Arab Emirates had been the region’s top market in recent years.
The company attributed the rise in sales volume to a strong push seen between January and March, which marks the fourth quarter of the company’s financial year. During that time, market share rose to 9.5 percent in the kingdom, compared to 7.5 percent in the previous three quarters.
Nissan has strengthened its presence in the kingdom over the last two years, adding more showrooms and dealerships. It also expanded its after-sales maintenance and service units.
