Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) signed a contract with General Electric for implementing the Integrated Solar Combined-Cycle (ISCC) gas power plant project in the western Red Sea port of Duba at a total cost of SAR 4.5 billion, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The electricity projects being implemented in the Tabuk region, including the Green Duba plant, are expected to cost more than SAR 10 billion, the report said.

Green Duba— which is one of the world’s largest integrated power plants— will be utilizing solar energy for the first time in Saudi Arabia. The project aims to produce environment-friendly electricity and to reduce equivalent fuel consumption.
